Equipment: Ditch Witch®JT4020 – Sullair 900/350 compressor – StraightLine® 4″ Air Hammer System
Ground Conditions: 30″ of clay cover, solid rock underneath.
Drilling Fluid & Flow Rate: NO fluid, bore was without the use of fluids.
Project: placing 3 ducts for expansion of a fiber network. Bore was just over 300′ in length.
Obstacles: this bore presented three significant challenges: 1) a 20′ change in elevation over the course of the bore, 2) a sewer main that was 9′ deep located 80′ in front of the entrance point that the bore that was designed to go under and 3) an existing fiber optic cable that the bore had to parallel.
In Our Customers Words:: “We were recently handed a very challenging bore in Atlanta, GA that was just over 300′ in length. It required 4′ of cover, included 20′ of elevation change between the entry and exit points, had a sewer main located 80′ in front of the entrance point that was 9′ deep and required the product to be placed 3′ below the pipe. To add to the complexity, there was an existing fiber cable that had to be paralleled throughout the entire bore path. To make matters worse, the majority of the bore was in solid rock. To my amazement our StraightLine® Air Hammer System handled every challenge with ease and we achieved perfect placement in just under 6-hours.” — Jack Freeman, Southern Diversified Technology, Brookhaven MS.
